Swimming Pool at Bavington Hall
The Client commissioned IBA to design a new indoor swimming pool as an extension to the Grade 2 listed Bavington Hall. The site chosen was the existing service entrance courtyard which was surrounded by a stone wall on three sides with attached outbuildings. The outbuildings were demolished but the stone wall were retained. IBA have designed a glulam-framed structure which bridges over the retained stone wall to support a slated pitched roof with glazing between the top of the wall and the underside of the roof. The remaining wall is glazed to the courtyard. A lightweight glazed structure links the new pool to the existing house.
