Seaton Delaval Medical Centre
Health // Seaton Delaval
For this project, we sought to maintain consistency with the client’s established identity. As a sister project to Beaumont Park Medical Centre, the design continues the use of a calming palette of greens and blues, reinforcing the NHS brand while creating a welcoming healthcare environment.
The building incorporates high-pressure laminate (HPL) façade panels, chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. These panels can be removed and replaced individually, allowing future maintenance work to be carried out efficiently with minimal disruption. Yellow brickwork was also introduced to reference the nearby Hastings Pub, helping the building respond to its local context while establishing a visual connection with the surrounding area.
The site benefits from excellent access to public transport and local amenities, making it convenient for both patients and staff. However, the need for a new medical practice in Seaton Delaval is particularly significant, as there is currently no NHS GP practice serving the area. Existing practices operate privately, creating a gap in accessible primary healthcare provision for local residents. This development has therefore been designed to address an urgent community need by providing a modern, purpose-built NHS medical centre that is both accessible and fit for future demand.
