Office and Warehouse

Commercial // Durham

IBA were commissioned to design an office and warehouse building for a leading renewable energy company supplying and installing solar panels in the private, domestic and commercial markets.

Occupying a prime corner site in an industrial estate in Durham, the office is a two storey building comprising 5,500sq. ft of high quality office space in a largely open plan arrangement with commanding views over the surrounding landscape.

The building is of traditional masonry construction with a full height feature rendered panel either side of a full height curtain walling corner that wraps around the feature staircase. Flat faced composite panels at high level and an overhanging bullnosed profile eaves form the roof and a glazed canopy with stainless steel tension wires provide weather protection over the main entrance.

The warehouse building is a traditional industrial style building providing 14,000sq. ft of storage and distribution space and is formed of profiled steel built up cladding laid vertically and horizontally. Composite panels provide features to the southern corner aspects.

Both buildings are fitted with roof mounted solar panels which will feed electricity back to the grid via the feed in tariff and a wind turbine is proposed to further enhance the Clients green credentials and commitment to sustainable energy.
