New Television Studios
Media // The Watermark
In November 2004 ITV made the decision to relocate Tyne Tees Television to the Watermark and into an office building designed by IBA and, then, nearing completion.
IBA were appointed to undertake the design and management of the project to provide approx 2000 m of space incorporating three television studios, production control rooms, edit suites, meeting rooms and a news room, together with the administrative offices, hospitality and reception areas. Exacting standards of acoustic separation were required in many sensitive areas together with large demands for comfort cooling. ITV also required their extensive technical fit out to be undertaken concurrently with the construction fit out works.
IBA assigned a dedicated team to the project to undertake the fast track programme and coordinate ITV’s technical requirements with the construction work. The project was completed on time and within budget and ITV Tyne Tees went ‘live’ from their new studios on July 3rd 2005.
